how to create Papermache objects

Aktualisiert: 10. Apr.

If you're interested in creating your own paper mache objects but don't know where to start, then this step-by-step tutorial is for you!

Step 1:

Gather your supplies You will need the following materials:

Step 2:

Create your base

decide on the shape and size of your object and choose a base that will give you the desired shape. Balloons work well for round objects, while cardboard boxes or wire frames can be used for more complex shapes. In this picture I used some aluminum foil to create the organic shape for a mirror.

Step 3:

making Papermache

Rip the cardboard and soak it in water for at least a few hours. Use a blender to mix everything into a paste, making sure that the water ratio is higher than the cardboard in the mixer; otherwise, it will become too lumpy. Then drain the access water thru a sieve that its not to wet. After preparing the paste, sprinkle the glue over it and mix it. When the dough can be formed into a ball, you have achieved the right consistency for your paper mache.

Step 4:

applying the papermache

Continue applying until the entire base is covered.

Step 5:

let it dry

Allow your paper mache object to dry completely, which may take days or even weeks depending on the size and shape of your object.

With these simple steps, you can create your own paper mache objects to use as decorations, props, or even for play Have fun experimenting with different shapes and sizes, and don't be afraid to get creative with your designs.
